The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to bridge the development gap between Abuja’s city centre and its rapidly growing satellite towns.

During an inspection tour on Saturday, Wike visited ongoing infrastructure projects in Ketti and Takushara—two bustling communities within the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC). These projects include the 10.5-kilometre Kabusa/Ketti road and the 9.8-kilometre Kabusa/Takushara road, which are expected to significantly ease commuting, stimulate local economic activity, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents.

Wike stated that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s mandate to ensure inclusive growth throughout the FCT, extending development beyond the city core.

“Mr President has consistently directed that development must reach every corner—not just the city,” Wike said, expressing confidence that the roads will be completed and commissioned by May in celebration of Tinubu’s second year in office.

He also praised AMAC Chairman, Christopher Maikalangu, for his proactive role in identifying the critical needs of the communities. “If not for him, our attention may not have come to these areas,” Wike noted, pointing to the joy of residents who welcomed the minister during the tour.

Highlighting the strategic role of infrastructure in driving rural development, Wike emphasized that quality road networks would reduce urban congestion, encourage relocation to the suburbs, and spur real estate investment in satellite areas.

In addition to road infrastructure, the minister revealed plans to build new schools in Ketti and Takushara, pending the approval of the 2025 FCT Statutory Budget by the National Assembly.

“Our focus is to develop public infrastructure that benefits the wider community, not just private estates,” Wike said.

In his Easter message, the minister urged FCT residents to embrace unity, love, and forgiveness, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to the collective good of all Abuja residents.
