The Africa Housing Awards 2024 is set to honor outstanding legislators whose policies and actions have significantly advanced housing and urban development in Nigeria.
Among those to be celebrated are Senator Aliyu Wamakko, named Housing Friendly Senator of the Year; Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, Chairman of the Housing and Habitat Committee, as Housing Friendly Legislator of the Year; Hon. Amos Daniel, Chairman of the House Services Committee, as Housing Friendly Legislator of the Year; and Hon. Awaj-Inombek Abiante, Chairman of the Urban Development and Regional Planning Committee, as Urban Development Friendly Legislator of the Year.
This prestigious recognition underscores their unwavering commitment to enacting policies and championing initiatives that address Africa’s housing challenges and foster sustainable urban development.
In a press statement released in Abuja, Festus Adebayo, the coordinator of the Africa Housing Awards, praised the honorees for their impactful contributions.
“These legislators have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the housing sector, using their legislative roles to champion initiatives that prioritize affordable housing and urban development. Their recognition is well-deserved and serves as an inspiration for others in public service,” Adebayo stated.
The awards ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Musa Yar’Adua Event Centre in Abuja, will bring together a distinguished gathering of policymakers, stakeholders, and industry leaders from across Africa.
High-profile dignitaries, including the Governors of Sokoto and Nasarawa states, First Lady of Cross River State, her Excellency, Rev. (Mrs) Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, are expected to grace the event.
Other notable attendees include Distinguished Senator Philip Aduda, members of the National Assembly, Leaders of professional bodies and Engr. Emeka Eze, OFR, former President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, who will chair the occasion.
The awards will also recognize achievements in categories such as real estate development, mortgage solutions, and social housing, as well as induct influential figures into the Affordable Housing Hall of Fame.
Organized by Housing TV Africa in collaboration with the Housing Development Advocacy Network, the Africa Housing Awards continues to celebrate excellence and innovation in the housing sector.
