US Floods: 14 Dead After Heavy Rain

Severe flooding triggered by heavy rainfall across parts of the U.S. has claimed at least 14 lives, including a child.

Kentucky, the hardest-hit state, confirmed 12 deaths, while two others were reported in Georgia and West Virginia.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear shared the grim news on X, expressing the toll’s personal impact:

“These are Kentuckians who will be missed by their families and loved ones.”

The state’s death toll climbed from eight, including a 7-year-old child, reported on Sunday.

In Georgia, one death was confirmed by local authorities, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey also confirmed one fatality on Monday, adding that several people were missing due to significant flooding.

Heavy rains, which began Saturday, have affected multiple states, including Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Arkansas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
