Two-Storey Banquet Hall Collapses in Delhi’s Model Town After Heavy Rains

In a tragic incident, a two-storey banquet hall in northwest Delhi’s Model Town area collapsed on Saturday afternoon following heavy rains.

The building, located in Mahendru Enclave, was under repair when it suddenly crumbled at around 2:45 pm, according to officials from the Delhi Fire Services (DFS).

Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene, with three fire tenders dispatched to assist in the rescue operation. The police, alongside rescue teams, managed to pull three individuals from the rubble, who were immediately transported to a nearby hospital. As per the latest reports, two of the rescued individuals are in critical condition. Fortunately, no other persons were reported trapped inside the structure.

This incident comes just a week after another building collapse in northwest Delhi. On August 2, three people were killed and four others injured when a portion of a two-storey building in Jahangirpuri’s D Block gave way. The building, which housed three separate factories, collapsed due to weakened structural integrity caused by seepage. Emergency services, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), worked tirelessly to manage the aftermath.

Both incidents highlight the ongoing issues with building safety in the area, particularly concerning older structures compromised by environmental factors.
