In a landmark move toward inter-state collaboration, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Ibom Towers, an 18-story multipurpose building owned by the Akwa Ibom State Government, located at Plot 868A, Bishop Aboyade Cole Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
At the event, Sanwo-Olu highlighted the project’s significance as more than just a physical structure, calling it a symbol of partnership between Lagos and Akwa Ibom States. He praised Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, for choosing Lagos as the investment location, noting that the new development would strengthen economic ties and provide significant revenue for both states.
“The decision by Akwa Ibom State to embark on this ambitious venture here in Lagos speaks to the vision of Governor Umo Eno and the economic dynamism of Lagos as a thriving commercial hub,” said Sanwo-Olu. “This groundbreaking affirms our commitment to fostering projects that enhance regional prosperity and create new opportunities.”
Ibom Towers, projected for completion within 24 months, aims to serve as a vibrant hub for business, investment, and community life. “As Ibom Towers rises, it will symbolize the fruitful alliance between our states, embodying a collective vision for Nigeria’s growth, driven by creativity, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence,” Sanwo-Olu added.
Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno shared his commitment to expanding the state’s economic base by investing strategically in Lagos. “We are here to break ground for the 18-story Ibom Towers as part of our efforts to grow income streams and strengthen our investment portfolio,” Eno stated.
Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah, expressed his long-held vision for the project, which he initially conceptualized during his tenure. Attah encouraged Governor Eno to remain focused on his vision, emphasizing the greater value of strategic investments in Lagos compared to Akwa Ibom. “The future belongs to those with the courage to see it before it unfolds,” Attah remarked.
By fostering projects like Ibom Towers, the two states are laying the foundation for a future of shared prosperity and economic collaboration across Nigeria.
