Prince Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, a distinguished real estate mogul, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, has been elected as the Owa Obokun Ajimoko III, the Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, signaling a new chapter of progress and development for the region.
Born on September 19, 1948, into the Ajimoko royal family in Ijesaland, Osun State, his life has been marked by notable achievements in governance, business, and philanthropy.
Prince Haastrup began his educational journey at Eko Boys’ High School and continued at the Federal School of Sciences in Lagos before earning a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C. Returning to Nigeria in 1981, he quickly made his mark in public service, being elected as Deputy Governor of Osun State in 1990. During his tenure, he contributed to significant policy reforms and infrastructure projects, laying a foundation for the state’s growth.
After his time in politics, Haastrup shifted his focus to the private sector, founding ENL Consortium Limited in 2002. Under his leadership, the company became a major player across multiple industries, including power generation, port operations, real estate development, hospitality, road construction, and gold mining.

The selection process for the Owa Obokun throne was conducted at the Ilesa West Local Government Secretariat and supervised by traditional kingmakers, including six Iworo Mefa and seven Agba Ijesa. Announcing the results, Mrs. Felicia Olabimtan, Head of Local Government Administration, highlighted the overwhelming support for Prince Haastrup.
