A devastating rainstorm struck Ogele community in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State, leaving many residents homeless. The disaster, which occurred on Eid-el-Fitr night, caused widespread destruction to homes and public infrastructure.

Among the structures destroyed were Ansarul Islam Primary School, Community Secondary School, a health centre, and several mosques. The storm also damaged electric poles and high-tension wires supplying electricity to Ogele, Afon, and neighboring communities.

Victims Count Losses, Appeal for Government Assistance

Some affected residents described their losses as overwhelming and called for immediate support from authorities and well-meaning individuals. The Aare Ogele, Alhaji Abubakar Akanbi, whose home was also damaged, urged the government to provide relief for victims.

ODPU Chairman: Many Residents Now Homeless

Chairman of the Ogele Descendants Progressive Union, Alhaji Issa Akanbi-Oniyo, expressed deep concern over the disaster’s impact. He emphasized that the incident had displaced numerous families, worsening the hardship faced by the community.
