President Bola Tinubu arrived in Beijing, China, on Sunday for a significant state visit.

The visit coincides with his attendance at the 9th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit, themed “Joining Hands to Advance Modernisation and Build a High-Level China-Africa Community with a Shared Future.”

This development was disclosed by Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, in a post on X.com. Olusegun shared, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrives in Beijing for his official state visit to China. He will meet with President Xi Jinping and hold meetings with Chinese business leaders on the sidelines of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.”

Upon arrival, President Tinubu was warmly received by key Nigerian officials, including the Minister of Works, David Umahi; the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani; and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Several Chinese government officials were also present to welcome the Nigerian leader.

Earlier reports indicated that President Xi Jinping had extended an invitation to Tinubu for the state visit in September. The visit is aimed at bolstering economic collaboration and attracting substantial investments to Nigeria.

During his stay, President Tinubu’s itinerary includes visits to notable Chinese companies such as Huawei Technologies and the China Railway and Construction Corporation. These engagements are particularly focused on accelerating the completion of the Ibadan-Abuja segment of the Lagos-Kano rail project.

Additionally, the President will hold discussions with CEOs from 10 leading Chinese corporations, managing over $3 trillion in assets. These talks will cover sectors including ICT, oil and gas, aluminum production, seaport development, finance, and satellite technology, furthering the agenda of enhanced economic cooperation between Nigeria and China.
