Abia State governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has issued a firm directive to his security adviser to collaborate with other agencies of government to ensure the arrest and prosecution of anyone involved in the harassment and extortion of motorists and business people in Aba and Umuahia.
The governor also warned that he would not hesitate to “fire” any government appointee involved in any form of extortion.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, in a Facebook post, said daily tickets by commercial motorists and Keke operators plying Abia State roads are electronically paid, noting that there’s no “loading fees” payable to touts.

He further stressed that if anyone is caught extorting motorists on the roads in the name of loading fees, such person will be arrested, paraded, and prosecuted.
Ekeoma also reminded the people engaged in the illegal extortion that “there is no godfather and that there’s no de facto governor, so there’s no room for counter directive from another source.”
Recall that Otti had, upon assumption of office, warned that his administration will not tolerate any form of extortion and touting activities in the state.
