The Ogun State Government has issued a flood alert, advising residents in 26 flood-prone communities to relocate before the peak of coastal flooding between September and November.
Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, stated that the state has desilted 988.3 km of rivers and drainage channels over the past five years to mitigate flooding.
He urged residents in areas like Ijebu-Ode, Ota, Owode, Abeokuta, and Sagamu to prepare for flash floods from March to July.

To ensure safety, the government has designated IDP camps and partnered with religious organizations for emergency shelter.
Oresanya assured that Ogun State remains committed to minimizing flood impacts while maximizing the benefits of the rainy season for food security.
