Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, impeached as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly on January 13, 2025, is returning.
Our source confirms his security details have been restored, while those of his successor, Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, were withdrawn.
Meranda, the first female Speaker after Obasa’s removal, has not resigned, but her fate was reportedly decided over the weekend.
Key APC leaders, including Chief Bisi Akande and Chief Olusegun Osoba, met to resolve the crisis within the State Assembly.

At the meeting, party leaders declared Obasa’s removal illegal and directed lawmakers to reinstate him as Speaker immediately.
The House has not yet reconvened to implement the decision, but Obasa’s return appears imminent following leadership resolutions.
Meranda adjourned plenary indefinitely two weeks ago after DSS operatives invaded the assembly, causing serious commotion and disruptions.
