The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has reaffirmed its dedication to rebranding and equipping its members with cutting-edge skills to enhance their global competitiveness.
At the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Techlytics Africa and BHM Group in Lagos, NSE President, Mrs. Margaret Oguntala, emphasized the importance of training engineers in emerging technologies. She highlighted that this initiative is central to the society’s mission of professional development and would ensure members remain relevant in the rapidly evolving engineering landscape.
Oguntala noted, “Professional development is a core objective of the NSE. This partnership with Techlytics aligns with our strategic agenda to prepare our members for global opportunities.” She added that the society has been engaging with the government to increase the patronage of Nigerian engineers for national projects, with encouraging progress in appointments.
The event, attended by key NSE executives, including the Vice President of Corporate Services, Dr. Felicia Agubata, and Chairman of the NSE Presidential Strategic Partnerships Committee, Mr. Tosin Ogunmola, underscored the society’s commitment to training 10,000 engineers over the next two years.
Mr. Ogunmola revealed that the NSE is also fostering partnerships to enhance collaboration among government, industry, and academia, as well as to support membership development.
The Founder and CEO of Techlytics Africa, Oluwatayo Winkunle, described the collaboration as a strategic move towards national development. She explained that the training would focus on critical areas such as data science, Artificial Intelligence, data governance, and professional skills like presentation, report writing, and customer service, which are essential for both personal and national growth.
Regional Manager of BHM Group, Njideka Akabogu, commended the vital contributions of Nigerian engineers over the past 66 years and reiterated BHM’s commitment to supporting the NSE’s vision of rebranding and repositioning the society for global relevance.
This partnership is expected to elevate the skills of Nigerian engineers, enabling them to drive national development and compete effectively on the international stage.
