The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has partnered with CARE Nigeria to improve access to crucial climate data.
Prof. Charles Anosike, NiMet’s Director General, said the collaboration will help reach last-mile users needing weather information.
Anosike highlighted NiMet’s existing partnerships with state governors and agencies, emphasizing timely delivery of perishable climate data.
He stressed that climate change and global conflicts are increasing humanitarian crises, requiring urgent climate-informed decision-making strategies.

The partnership aims to integrate weather information into poverty reduction plans to support sustainable development and disaster response.
Anosike noted that climate crises displace communities, causing forced labor and human trafficking, worsening existing societal challenges.
Dr. Hussaini Abdu, CARE Nigeria’s Country Director, said CARE supports crisis-affected people across over 120 countries worldwide.
He explained that CARE Nigeria, established in 2017, initially focused on Northeast humanitarian crises but has since expanded.
The organization now deepens development programs nationwide, addressing climate change’s humanitarian impacts, especially in vulnerable Nigerian regions.
