In a bold move to revamp Nigeria’s civil service, the federal government is teaming up with Singapore to create a model of professionalism, efficiency, and innovation.
Didi Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), led a delegation to Singapore, aiming to draw inspiration from the Southeast Asian nation’s world-renowned public service system.
The delegation visited the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Global Centre for Technology, Innovation, and Sustainable Development, with Walson-Jack emphasizing the importance of collaboration in driving Nigeria’s public service transformation. She noted that Singapore’s success in transparency, efficiency, and innovation makes it an ideal partner for this endeavor.
This partnership aims to establish a connection between the UNDP Global Centre and Nigeria’s Public Service Institute, focusing on joint training programs, collaborative research, and the exchange of innovative solutions. According to Walson-Jack, these efforts are geared towards empowering Nigerian civil servants with cutting-edge knowledge and tools to meet 21st-century demands.
The visit marked a milestone in strengthening ties between the two nations and set the stage for impactful reforms. The Nigerian delegation, consisting of 20 Heads of State Civil Services, is part of a broader initiative to align the country’s civil service with global standards and expectations.
The collaboration promises to usher in transformative changes, with Walson-Jack reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to implementing reforms that elevate the civil service to new heights of excellence.
