Preliminary investigations indicate they might be victims of Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and Smuggling of Migrants (SOM) networks.

None of the arrested individuals possessed valid travel documents or residence permits when questioned by immigration officials.

Authorities Continue Profiling and Investigation Procedures

Akinlabi stated that the illegal migrants remain in custody as authorities conduct further profiling and deeper investigations.

The NIS has reiterated its commitment to curbing illegal migration and dismantling trafficking networks operating within Nigeria’s borders.
