The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has initiated groundbreaking ceremonies for its staff cooperative housing estates located in the Anua Offot community in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and the Elebele community in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
This unique initiative, managed and operated entirely by NDDC staff, fosters ownership and responsibility while ensuring sustainable community development.
Speaking at the ceremony in Uyo, Chiedu Ebie, Chairman of the NDDC Governing Board, praised the cooperative society’s initiative. He highlighted the positive impact the housing estate would have on the Anua community and the broader Niger Delta region. Ebie emphasized that the new estate would open up the area, urging residents to leverage the infrastructure that will be developed.
Similarly, NDDC Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku commended the NDDC Port Harcourt Staff Cooperative Investment and Credit Society Ltd for embarking on estate development for its members.

He encouraged the cooperative to accommodate both staff and non-staff of the NDDC in its estates, advocating for greater investment in the Niger Delta region.
Paul Emerhana, President of the NDDC Port Harcourt Staff Cooperative Investment and Credit Society Ltd, expressed gratitude to the NDDC Board and Management for their support.

He acknowledged the cooperative society’s commitment to complementing the efforts of the NDDC, noting the importance of providing basic infrastructure in the estates to facilitate community development and boost economic activities.
