The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, has revealed plans to complete national housing projects in 20 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as part of efforts to tackle Nigeria’s housing deficit.
This move is in line with the presidential mandate to provide affordable housing for all Nigerians.
Dangiwa highlighted the importance of increased budgetary allocations to achieve these goals, noting that the 2025 budget would focus on constructing 20,000 housing units under the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda, alongside completing ongoing national housing projects across the country.
The Minister emphasized the need for enhanced funding in several critical areas to realize these ambitious objectives, including ongoing housing projects, slum upgrading, and urban renewal. He also urged the National Assembly to approve additional resources for affordable housing initiatives, housing infrastructure, and research and development.
In a statement, Dangiwa reinforced the commitment of the government to improving housing conditions and addressing Nigeria’s infrastructure challenges.
