Landlord Issues Quit Notice to Obi Cubana Over Alleged Unpaid Rent in Abuja

Businessman and social media celebrity, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana has been given seven days notice to quit Plot 81, Ademola Adetokumbo Crescent, Wuse 11, Abuja, the property housing his popular Cubana Lounge over alleged unpaid rent.

Rev. Chidiebere Amakaeze, the landlord of the property being used for popular Cubana Lounge in the Wuse area of Abuja claimed that Obi Cubana, the proprietor of Cubana Group has not paid rent from 2019 till date.

The quit notice issued by solicitors to Rev. Amakaeze, cited by PM NEWS was signed by Prince Ben S. Ikani Esq and E. I. Nwafor Esq of Citadel of Justice of Law Firm, Abuja.

In the first quit notice dated 14 January 2025, the landlord asked “Cubana to quit the premises and give up vacant possession of the property and the premises with its appurtenances located at Plot 81, Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse 11, Abuja.”

According to the lawyers, Obi Cubana is no longer a tenant after his 10 years of his tenancy which started from April 1, 2009 to March 1, 2019.

The lawyers also said Cubana held the place to himself without payment till date, and therefore he should deliver the property within 7 days from of the serve notice to him.

The lawyers also sent a reminder to Obi Cubana.

In the reminder, the lawyers asked the businessman and social media celebrity to vacate the property to enable the landlord deploy it for other purposes.

In the reminder, dated 21 January 2025, the landlord in a reference letter, marked COG/428/2025, titled: “7 days Notice of Owners Intention to Apply for the Recovery of Procession” the landlord said he would proceed to high court, Abuja, to recover the said property from Cubana if he refused to quit.

The landlord said he will explore the legal option “unless peaceable possession of the premises which he (Cubana) is currently occupying which tenancy expired on 31st day of March 2019 is given to agents or lawyers acting on behalf of the landlord before the expiration of the 7 days notice.

The landlord vowed to proceed to the high court to recover the said property if Cubana fails to act on the quit notice.
