Lagos State Govt Refunds 145 Egan-Igando Housing Estate Subscribers

The Lagos State Government has refunded 145 subscribers to the Egan-Igando Mixed Housing Estate who opted out of the housing scheme.

This was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Housing, Mr. Abdulhafis Toriola, in a statement issued by Mr. Adesile Rufai, the Chief Public Affairs Officer, Ministry of Housing, on Monday in Lagos.

Toriola explained that the delay in completing the estate was due to issues such as bureaucracy and vandalism. He added that subscribers who had paid in full but were no longer interested in the houses could apply for a refund.

For those who applied for a refund but have yet to receive it, Toriola advised them to visit the Ministry with their original payment documents. In cases of lost documents, a police report and a declaration of loss should be provided.

He mentioned that the Ministry is scrutinizing applications with questionable documents. Priority will be given to those who paid in full to receive their houses first, while others with partial payments can choose to complete the payment or get a refund.

Toriola also noted that more housing units are underway, with 576 homes expected to be completed by March 2025. He assured that the government would hold additional meetings to ensure all genuine subscribers are satisfied.

The Permanent Secretary reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing affordable housing for its citizens.
