The Lagos State government has once again taken a firm stand against illegal building constructions, sealing off several buildings on Lagos Island that were built without proper permits.
Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, conducted the inspection over the weekend and warned against ignoring building regulations.
Dr. Olumide shared his concerns, explaining that the government had previously offered an amnesty period for property owners to regularize their permits without facing penalties.
Unfortunately, many property owners took this opportunity lightly, continuing with illegal constructions that fail to meet safety, structural, and environmental standards.
He emphasized that the goal is to foster a culture of compliance, ensuring that Lagos remains a safe, organized, and thriving city for everyone.
