Kogi Assembly, Housing Ministry Partner to Tackle Housing Deficit

The Kogi State House of Assembly has pledged to work with the Housing Ministry, addressing the housing deficit across the state.

Vice Chairman of the Physical Planning, Urban, and Rural Development Committee, Hon. Sunday Daku, made this statement during an oversight visit.

Daku, representing Bassa Constituency, commended the ministry’s leadership, assuring continuous legislative support for affordable housing and urban development in Kogi State.

“As lawmakers, we oversee government agencies, ensuring projects align with developmental goals while addressing challenges affecting citizens and urban planning,” he said.

He praised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for prioritizing infrastructure, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to housing development and sustainable urban renewal efforts.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Abanika Taiye, highlighted achievements, stressing government efforts to bridge Kogi’s widening housing gap.

Taiye explained that the ministry collaborates with stakeholders, working towards updating the State Master Plan for improved urban development.

The committee inspected key projects, including Kogi Audit House construction and Customary Court of Appeal renovations, assessing progress and challenges.
