The Kano State government has officially rejoined the National Housing Fund (NHF) Contribution scheme, signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) after 25 years of non-participation.
The signing ceremony took place with the state’s Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, and FMBN’s Managing Director, Shehu Usman Osidi, marking a historic step towards providing affordable housing opportunities for Kano’s civil servants.
Kano State had previously exited the scheme in 2000, denying thousands of civil servants access to affordable housing loans. This new agreement promises to deliver a range of housing finance products, including mortgage loans at single-digit interest rates, home renovation loans, and cooperative housing development loans.
Osidi assured the Kano government of FMBN’s commitment to ensuring workers benefit from these housing solutions, highlighting over N6.8 billion invested in completed housing projects in the state.
