Housing Ministry Allocates N6.3bn for Road Infrastructure in 2025 Budget

The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has allocated N6,345,650,913 for road infrastructure as part of its 2025 executive budget, recently presented by President Bola Tinubu.

Budget details reveal that the ministry’s capital expenditure for 2025 stands at N83.75bn, with N69.35bn earmarked for the construction and provision of fixed assets. Among these, road infrastructure accounts for a significant N6.3bn.

Other allocations include N11.65bn for office buildings, N23.84bn for residential buildings, N1.08bn for water facilities, N380m for hospitals and health centres, N682m for public schools, and N25.36bn for other infrastructure projects.

Additionally, N10.37bn has been set aside for the rehabilitation and repairs of existing structures to ensure their durability. The budget also designates N346m for fixed assets, covering motor vehicles (N120m), computers (N26m), and teaching and learning equipment (N200m).

Housing Minister Musa Dangiwa highlighted the ministry’s commitment to addressing the nation’s housing deficit, which requires 550,000 housing units annually over the next decade to meet demand.

“The Ministry needs a bigger budgetary allocation for housing units. We engaged the National Assembly recently, and they have expressed willingness to support the N500bn budget for the Ministry in 2025,” Dangiwa stated during a meeting in Abuja.

The ministry has made significant progress under the Renewed Hope Agenda and remains focused on providing solutions to the country’s housing and infrastructure challenges.
