Horror in Abuja Estate as Fire Claims Life of 5-Year-Old Girl, Destroys Properties

A devastating fire broke out in a one-storey building at 16 Ottawa Street, Efab Metropolis Estate, Karsana, close to Gwarinpa in Abuja, on Wednesday night, leading to the tragic death of a five-year-old girl and the destruction of properties worth millions of naira.

The fire, which began around 10:30 p.m., ravaged several rooms on the first floor of the building. The aftermath of the blaze left household items in charred remains, with piles of damaged belongings visible outside the compound.

Despite the destruction, the family has continued to reside in the building, receiving support and condolences from estate residents and friends. However, the victim’s father could not be reached for comment as he was busy receiving visitors.

A security guard, who requested anonymity, recalled witnessing the incident. He mentioned that the fire began while the family’s generator was running, providing electricity to the house, though he could not ascertain the exact cause of the blaze.
