Dignitaries from various sectors gathered at the United Evangelical Church, National Worship Center, Utako, Abuja, to honor the late Arc. Gabriel Yakubu Aduku, FNIA RIBA PPNIA OON (Amana Ogohi I-Ata Igala). Passing away at 80 on March 10, 2024, in the United States of America, after a brief illness, the late Arc. Aduku’s legacy was celebrated at the service, which commenced at 5 pm on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.
Among the attendees were members of the Housing Development Advocacy Network (HDAN), Real Estate Development Association of Nigeria (REDAN), Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), Ministers, former Governors, Senators, stakeholders in the housing sector, and other notable Nigerians.
As the service marked the commencement of Arc. Aduku’s rites of passage, tributes poured in from individuals whose lives he had impacted. A visionary in architecture and public service, Arc. Aduku left an indelible mark on the housing industry and the nation.
Throughout his illustrious career, he served as a former Minister of State for Health, distinguishing himself with his dedication to improving the healthcare delivery system.

Arc. Aduku’s journey from his birth in February 1944, in Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, to his educational pursuits at various institutions, reflected his potential for greatness. Co-founding the Kaduna-based architectural firm, Archcon Nigeria, in 1970, he became a pioneer executive chairman, leaving his mark on numerous landmark projects across Nigeria.
In addition to his professional achievements, Arc. Aduku was deeply committed to his community and people, advocating for their social, economic, and political development. Active in Nigerian politics, he held various positions in political parties and played a crucial role in the Revenue Allocation Committee of the National Constitutional Conference, establishing the 13% derivation formula embedded in the 1999 Nigerian Constitution.
