In recognition of his profound contributions to urban planning in Nigeria, a group of esteemed colleagues and associates are set to launch a dedicated Urban Planning Foundation in honor of former Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) President, Nathaniel Atebije, as he approaches his 70th birthday.
Nathaniel Atebije’s career is a testament to unwavering dedication and expertise in the field of urban planning. His journey began at Kaduna Polytechnic, where he laid the foundation for his professional life by obtaining a Post Graduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning. Driven by a passion for environmental sustainability, he furthered his education, earning a Master of Environmental Planning and Protection from the University of Abuja.
Atebije’s multifaceted career spanned academia, consultancy, and public service. He served as a lecturer, imparting his knowledge to future generations of town planners, and practiced as a consultant, contributing to numerous impactful projects.
His dedication to public service saw him rise through the ranks, demonstrating a commitment to shaping sustainable urban environments. Upon retirement, he returned to planning consultancy, continuing to contribute his expertise.
A Fellow of the NITP, Atebije has served the institute with distinction in various capacities, embodying a spirit of leadership and service.
