Governor Zulum Commissions 500 Resettlement Houses in Borno State

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum commissioned 500 newly built houses in Nguro-Soye, a community in Bama Local Government Area, on Tuesday.

These houses are part of a resettlement project aimed at providing homes and public facilities for over 1,100 households displaced by the decade-long insurgency in the region.

The resettlement project includes essential public amenities such as schools, a primary healthcare center, and water facilities. The initiative aims to create a sustainable living environment for displaced residents from ten different communities, including Burari, Adamri, Zaramri, and Mairamri of Soye town; Dambiya, Shaan I, Shaan II, Makintari, Bulbulin Ngaura, and Diwa Ngaura of Jodri town.

Governor Zulum announced that each head of the 1,100 resettled households received N50,000 in cash along with essential items such as mats, mattresses, mosquito nets, beans, seedlings, and agrochemicals. Additionally, their wives were given N25,000 each to support their resettlement.

He highlighted several reconstruction projects, including efforts in Bama township, Banki, Nguro Soye, Mallam Chelumri, and the ongoing construction of 500 houses in Darul Jamal.

Governor Zulum also shared plans for future reconstruction projects. “We are set to commence block molding for the reconstruction of Kumshe, Mayanti, and Bula Yobe,” he said. Additionally, Phase II of Bama township’s reconstruction, which targets 2,000 houses over the next two years, is already in progress.
