The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) has conferred an honorary fellowship on the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), Shehu Usman Osidi.
This recognition, awarded during the 2024 CIBN Fellowship Investiture, acknowledges Osidi’s remarkable contributions to the banking sector and the development of the institute.
In his opening address, CIBN President and Chairman, Prof. Pius Deji Olanrewaju, emphasized the significance of the event, highlighting that out of 646 honorees, only 15 were selected for the prestigious honorary fellowship. The investiture also saw 422 individuals elevated to fellows and 209 to honorary senior members.
Prof. Olanrewaju expressed pride in the achievements of Mr. Osidi, whose career spans over three decades in banking.
Osidi’s journey in the financial industry includes key roles at Lion Bank, Diamond Bank, Intercontinental Bank, and Afribank before joining FMBN in 2010.
He rose to the position of General Manager and, following his retirement in 2023, served as the Special Assistant (SA) Housing and Chief of Staff to the Honourable Minister of Housing and Urban Development.
Among top stakeholders who have congratulated the MD/CEO for the distinguished honors is the convener of the Africa International Housing Show, Festus Adebayo. Adebayo described Osidi as a man of exceptional dedication and vision, whose leadership at the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) has been marked by strategic reforms and innovative initiatives.
He commended Osidi’s remarkable contributions to the banking and housing sectors, noting that his recognition by CIBN is a testament to his unwavering commitment to driving growth and development in Nigeria’s mortgage and housing landscape.
The 2024 CIBN Fellowship Investiture was themed “Maximizing the Potentials of the Nigerian Economy: Policy Options, Challenges & Prospects,” reflecting a commitment to growth and leadership within Nigeria’s financial and housing sectors.
