FHA Denies Allegations of Reallocating Gwarinpa Police Station

The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has dismissed claims that it reallocated the Gwarinpa Police Station, describing the allegations as unfounded and baseless.

In a statement, the FHA management addressed reports suggesting that its managing director had allocated the police station to a personal associate and that there were plans to relocate the facility to Dawaki.

The authority clarified that these assertions were entirely false.

Providing further context, the FHA explained that the current police station was temporarily allocated to the Nigeria Police in 1995 to ensure security during the construction of Gwarinpa Estate. According to the master plan, designated sites for police stations were outlined at 522 Road, near the Catholic Church, and 695 Road.

The FHA revealed that, given its operational expansion due to upcoming “Renewed Hope” projects and the expected recruitment of new staff, the authority had approached several agencies—including the Nigeria Police, National Identity Commission, and FCT Water Board—requesting them to vacate their temporary accommodations.

This move aims to facilitate the construction of a three-floor office complex with ample parking space to serve FHA’s growing needs.

Regarding the police station, the FHA assured that discussions were ongoing with police authorities to develop a permanent facility on 695 Road, Gwarinpa, at a projected cost of ₦205 million.

“The police have given us the drawing of the building they want, and our professionals are already working on achieving the project,” the statement noted.

The FHA emphasized that it lacks the authority to determine or relocate the location of a police station.

It also criticized public figures, such as Ahmed Isah, for spreading false information, calling the claims “damnable and ridiculous.”

The authority reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and collaboration with relevant agencies, urging the public to disregard unfounded reports that seek to tarnish its reputation.
