The Federal Government has urged retailers nationwide to adjust prices accordingly, reflecting recent reductions in essential food costs.
Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, made this statement during Wheat Farmers Green Field Day in Jigawa State.
Kyari criticised retailers for ignoring food price drops, describing their refusal to adjust prices as unpatriotic and unfair.
“The government is aware of significant price drops in essential food items like flour, sugar, rice, and pasta.”
He expressed concern that many retailers, bakers, and shop owners continue denying Nigerians the relief they rightfully deserve.

“For example, flour prices dropped from N81,000 per bag to N60,000, while spaghetti now costs N15,000,” Kyari explained.
“It’s only fair that consumers benefit from these reductions, especially after previous complaints about rising food costs,” he added.
Kyari reaffirmed the government’s commitment to food availability, promising further engagement with stakeholders for price adjustments.
The event was organised in collaboration with the Flour Milling Association of Nigeria and Jigawa State Government officials.
