The Federal Government has officially launched the construction of a smart divisional police headquarters and six residential quarters for police officers in Mpape, a community within the Bwari Area Council of Abuja.
This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing reforms aimed at modernizing the police force through technology and promoting inclusivity.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the project was officiated by the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, who was represented by the acting Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Yusuf Argungu. The project is set to enhance security in Mpape and its neighboring areas, addressing key challenges such as kidnapping, robberies, and other criminal activities.
According to a statement by Bolaji Kazeem, Deputy Director at the Ministry of Police Affairs, the minister emphasized the importance of the new divisional police headquarters in improving security for both residents and businesses in the area.
“The presence of this divisional headquarters will provide protection for citizens commuting daily from the risks of kidnapping, one-chance operations, robbery, and other crimes affecting the city,” Gaidam stated.
The Federal Government is committed to transforming the Nigeria Police Force into a world-class institution, integrating technology, intelligence-driven operations, and community engagement into its policing strategies. This is part of a broader goal to create an inclusive and responsive police force.
The District Head of Mpape, Alhaji Adamu Diga, expressed appreciation for the project, acknowledging the upgrade of the existing Mpape Police Post to a Divisional Headquarters. He believes that the development will significantly improve police service delivery and efficiency in the district, benefiting the entire community.
