The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has successfully verified 24,000 staff as part of its ongoing Federal Housing Scheme (FHS) verification exercise.
However, 9,000 staff were unable to complete the process due to errors in the forms submitted physically and online.
Speaking during a monthly management meeting with officials from the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), Mr. Musa Lere, Acting Director of Finance and Accounts at the FCTA Treasury and Budget Department, revealed that the verification aimed to ensure eligible staff and retirees benefit from the scheme. He noted that the affected staff would be contacted to correct their submissions.
Mr. Lere also disclosed that deductions dating back to 2004 have been reconciled and submitted to the FMBN for updates, with ongoing efforts to address unremitted contributions from January to June 2024. Once completed, staff will begin receiving notifications of their deductions and total contributions.
The Regional Manager of FMBN, Ene Nduka-Nwafbo, commended the staff’s cooperation during the exercise and urged patience from those whose verification was unsuccessful. The exercise aligns with the National Housing Fund (NHF) Act of 1992, which mandates employees to contribute 2.5% of their basic salaries toward affordable housing solutions.
The FCTA emphasized its commitment to transparency and collaboration with FMBN through the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) to ensure efficient service delivery.
