The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a suspected real estate fraudster, Nwobo Williams Chibuike, for allegedly selling non-existent plots of land across multiple locations in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Chibuike, who posed as the Managing Director of several bogus property firms—including C&C Realty & Construction Limited, Dream-Krest Homes and Properties Limited, and Dan Faith Shelters Limited—was reportedly marketing fake plots in Kurudu, Sabon Lugbe East Extension, Kpeyegyi, Jikwoyi Village Extension, and other FCT communities.

According to the EFCC, victims paid staggering amounts for the fraudulent properties, with transactions ranging from ₦3.5 million to over ₦60 million in locations like Karsana, Pyakasa, Katampe Extension, Guzape 2, and Kuje.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the arrest and revealed that enquiries with the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) showed that the plots sold by Chibuike and his accomplices were entirely fictitious and not listed in any official records.

“The suspect has been linked to multiple fraudulent property deals within the FCT,” Oyewale said. “He will be charged to court once investigations are finalized.”

The EFCC cautioned the public against engaging with unauthorized or itinerant land vendors, especially those without proper verification or ties to the FCDA, urging potential buyers to always conduct due diligence before parting with money.

This development comes amid rising reports of land fraud and real estate scams in Abuja and other major cities.
