Edo Governorship: APC’s Okpebholo Leads Ighodalo by 48,000 Votes After 16 LGAs

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has taken a significant lead in the Edo State governorship election.

As of Sunday, Okpebholo is ahead by over 48,000 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

With results from 16 local government areas declared at the INEC Collation Centre in Benin City, Okpebholo, who represents Edo Central in the Senate, has secured 244,549 votes. His victory so far spans 10 local government areas, while Ighodalo, trailing with 195,954 votes, has won in six local governments.

Labour Party (LP) candidate, Olumide Akpata, is currently in third place with 13,346 votes, making the contest largely a two-horse race between the APC and PDP candidates.

Further updates are expected as results from the remaining local governments are declared.
