The Islamic lunar calendar 1445 will usher in the holy month of Ramadan on Monday, March 11, 2024, with the sighting of the Crescent Moon in Saudi Arabia.
This announcement was made after the moon-sighting committee confirmed the sighting of the crescent on Sunday evening, marking the end of the Islamic month of Sha’ban.
Muslim faithful around the world were earlier alerted to watch for the moon, signaling the start of the sacred month known for piety and sacrifice. In Nigeria, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Saa’d Abubakar III, had also urged faithful to be vigilant for the moon sighting.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by fasting from dawn to sunset, prayers for peace and guidance, charitable acts, and spiritual reflection. The exact start and end dates of Ramadan vary each year based on the lunar cycle.
