Anambra State Government Declares Enugu Properties Not for Sale

The Anambra State Government, through its Ministry of Information, has clarified that properties owned by the state in Enugu are not for sale.

This statement was made by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Paul Nwosu, who emphasized that Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has not authorized anyone to act as agents for the sale of these properties.

The declaration came from the Managing Director of the Anambra State Housing Development Corporation, Chike Anyaonu, who underscored that the properties inherited by Anambra State after the 1991 state creation remain unsold and off-limits.

“The properties of Anambra State domiciled in Enugu, following the sharing of assets of the old Anambra State, are not for sale,” Anyaonu affirmed.

He explained that after the creation of Anambra and Enugu states in August 1991, the Federal Government facilitated the division of assets between the two states in 1992. While there have been no issues with the properties inherited by Anambra in Abuja and Lagos, those in Enugu are reportedly being targeted by individuals attempting to sell them.

The five properties in question are located at:

30/32 Abakaliki Road, GRA, Enugu
Plot 6 Ogbolu Crescent, GRA, Enugu
Plot 14, Charles Street, GRA, Enugu
Plot 3, Independence Layout, Enugu
Plot 650, Independence Layout, Enugu
Anyaonu reiterated that no agents have been appointed by the Anambra State Government to sell these properties and warned against fraudulent transactions.

To safeguard the properties, officers from the Anambra State Housing Development Corporation have posted “Caveat Emptor” warnings on the sites and have formally notified the Lands Registry, as well as the Enugu and Anambra State Police Commands.

“Anyone who attempts to purchase any of these properties from impostors is doing so at their own risk,” Anyaonu cautioned.
