The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) has announced plans to construct a modern, state-of-the-art headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining a strong presence in the country.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the bank revealed that its Boards of Directors had unanimously approved the decision, emphasizing the need to provide a world-class work environment for its staff.
AfDB President, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, received the title deed for the site of the new headquarters from Adama Koné, the Dean of the Bank’s Boards of Directors and Côte d’Ivoire’s executive director on the board.
“This marks a historic moment for the African Development Bank, for Côte d’Ivoire, and for Africa. It sends a clear message that the AfDB, as Africa’s premier financial institution, deserves a headquarters befitting its global reputation,” Adesina stated.
The new headquarters will be built on the site of the current facility in Abidjan and will feature energy-efficient design, advanced security systems, and modern facilities to enhance productivity and staff well-being. The structure will also align with the bank’s commitment to green growth and sustainability.
