Displaced residents of a demolished estate in the Sabon-Lugbe area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, have sounded an alert over an alleged attempt to sell their land for N30 billion, a move they claim is sanctioned by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
In a press briefing held in Abuja on Tuesday, the affected residents, represented by their attorney, Barrister Kalu Agu Kalu, cautioned the public against any purchase of the property, which is currently embroiled in legal proceedings at the FCT High Court.

Barrister Kalu presented documentation he claimed proves the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) legally allocated the land to his clients through the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, after they completed the required statutory payments. The land, he stated, supported buildings worth over N200 billion before it was demolished.
The lawyer alleged that a private firm, reportedly involving foreign directors, has been enlisted to facilitate the sale of the land. He further disclosed that his clients are considering a peaceful protest in Abuja to express their grievances and seek intervention from President Bola Tinubu.
“We possess all legitimate title documents, and we complied with all necessary procedures in acquiring the land,” Barrister Kalu asserted. “Despite our ongoing lawsuit against the FCT Minister and others, the demolition proceeded. We issue a public advisory: no Nigerian should attempt to buy this land, as it would amount to a futile investment.”

Kalu stated that his clients have mandated him to formally notify the Inspector-General of Police and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) to prevent any unlawful disruption of their proposed protest.
Appealing to President Tinubu, Kalu urged him to call the FCT Minister to order, reassuring that his clients would adhere to legal pathways in seeking redress. He expressed confidence that the judiciary would ultimately deliver a just verdict.
