Abuja and Lagos Rank 1st and 2nd as Most Affordable Cities to Live in 2024

Mercer’s latest Cost of Living rankings for 2024 have placed Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, and its commercial hub, Lagos, at the top of the list as the most affordable cities for expatriates in Africa.

The report underscores the critical role of cost of living in expatriate decision-making, influencing their overall quality of life and financial stability.

The affordability of Abuja and Lagos is attributed to currency depreciations, significantly reducing living expenses for international assignees.

Following closely behind are Blantyre in Malawi in third place, and Durban in South Africa and Windhoek in Namibia ranking fourth and fifth, respectively.
