Abiodun appoints Jolaoso new MAPOLY Rector

The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has approved the appointment of Dr Babatunde Jolaoso as the 10th substantive Rector of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, with effect from Friday, December 6, 2024.

This was according to a statement issued by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Yemi Ajibola, and obtained by our correspondent on Wednesday.

The statement partly read, “The appointment approval was contained in a letter with reference number MOEST/HSC.1/9, dated December 3, 2024, signed by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Abayomi Arigbabu, and addressed to the Chairman, Governing Council, Prof Kamaldeen Balogun.

“The tenure of the outgoing Rector, Dr Adeoye Odedeji expires on Thursday, December 5, 2024, after the completion of a single term of five years since 2019.

“While announcing the appointment at the Council Chambers on Wednesday, Prof Balogun appreciated Governor Abiodun for his interest in the polytechnic and wished the new Rector a successful tenure.”

Until his appointment, Jolaoso was a Chief Lecturer in the polytechnic’s Department of Architecture, a post he held since 2015.

He joined the services of the polytechnic as a Laboratory Assistant at Oke-Egunya Campus in 1982.

An Alumnus of Ogun State Polytechnic (now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta), Jolaoso studied Architecture in the National Diploma (1985) and Higher National Diploma (1988) programmes and graduated with an Upper Credit.

The new Rector proceeded to the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, for his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Architecture between 1989 and 1994, respectively.
