1. The federal government inaugurated the construction of 250 housing units, named ‘Renewed Hope Estate,’ in Gombe. The launch took place near Gombe City Gate on the outskirts of the metropolis and saw the participation of Gombe Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Minister of Housing and Urban Development Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, and Minister of State Engr. Abdullahi T. Gwarzo.
2. President Bola Tinubu arrived in Lagos ahead of the scheduled flag-off of the Lagos-Calabar highway construction. He was welcomed at Murtala Muhammed Airport by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other government officials. President Tinubu would initiate the road construction on May 26.
3. The federal government has finalized plans to deploy electronic gates at three additional international airports in Nigeria. E-gates have already been installed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, and the installation at Murtala Muhammed International Airport has been completed and is ready for commissioning.

4. The Green Building Council Nigeria (GBCN) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) are organizing the Future Cities – Africa Green Building Summit 2.0 to promote climate-resilient urban development. Scheduled for July 16-19, 2024, at the Lagos Oriental Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, the summit themed “Building Resilient Futures: Integrating Carbon Neutrality, Circular Economy & Inclusive Urban Development,” is in collaboration with the World Green Building Council Africa Regional Network.
5. Ibrahim Lamorde, a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has reportedly passed away in Egypt at the age of 61.
Sources citing ‘close associates’ indicated that Lamorde died on Sunday while in Egypt for medical treatment.
6. Approximately 300 gunmen, riding motorcycles with two to three men on each and all fully armed, reportedly invaded Kuchi in the Munyan local government area of Niger State. The attack is suspected to have resulted in the deaths of four members of the Military Joint Force and three villagers.
7. The Kano Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association has raised concerns over the recent developments in the state following the repeal of the Kano Emirate Council Law of 2019. The association, in a statement on Saturday by its chairman, Sagir Gezawa, called for adherence to legal and constitutional processes.
8. Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has expressed concern over the slow progress of the Izzi Housing Estate project, intended to resettle internally displaced persons from the Ezza/Ezillo communal crisis. During an inspection in Ishielu local government area, Governor Nwifuru emphasized the state’s commitment to completing the estate swiftly. He criticized the delay, noting that funds had been provided to the contractors for the 140 housing units.

9. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reported that its office in Benin City, Edo has been severely affected by flooding. National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Sam Olumekun, confirmed to newsmen that the state experienced significant flooding following a torrential rainfall on Friday.
10. Six soldiers allegedly responsible for the death of an NDLEA official, Kingsley Chimetalo, have been court-martialed and dismissed by the Nigerian Army. Four of the soldiers allegedly involved have been handed over to the police while two others ran away.
