The Borno State government has allocated 113 hectares of land for the development of housing projects in Maiduguri, aiming to address the pressing need for affordable housing in the state capital.
This land is part of a larger 2,000-hectare parcel earmarked for the construction of 1,000 houses along the east, west, and south Maiduguri ring roads.
Announcing the allocation, Executive Secretary of the Borno Geographic Information Service (BOGIS), Adam Bababe, revealed that the land allocation was finalized during a meeting between government officials and Green Path Development Company.

Bababe highlighted that this initiative aligns with Governor Babagana Zulum’s urban renewal projects, which prioritize upgrading urban spaces to improve living conditions for residents across the state.
Bababe emphasized that the completion of the 1,000 housing units would significantly alleviate the housing deficit in the region. He directed Green Path Development to submit detailed project proposals for government review and approval, advising the company to consider the cultural aspects of Maiduguri to ensure that the project design complies with local traditions.

Dr. Babagana Mohammed, Group Managing Director of Green Path Development, praised Governor Zulum for involving the private sector in the state’s housing initiatives. He pledged to adopt top-notch housing solutions using high-quality materials and modern construction techniques, ensuring compliance with local building codes and land regulations.
The company committed to conducting thorough site assessments and designing layouts that optimize space and functionality for various housing types, aiming to bridge the housing deficit in Maiduguri effectively.
