The Federal Government has approved N1 billion to support the construction of hostels in twelve selected tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
This initiative, a partnership with private developers, includes six universities, three polytechnics, and three colleges of education.
At a workshop on ‘Emerging Areas of Students Needs in Beneficiary Institutions’ organized by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) in Abuja on Tuesday, TETFund Executtive Secretary Sonny Echono highlighted the dire state of hostel accommodations. He emphasized that poor living conditions are negatively impacting student learning outcomes.

Echono also encouraged institutions with education faculties tTeto innovate in implementing the Federal Government’s directive on teaching practice, aiming to produce well-trained teachers.
The approved fund aims to enhance the quality of student life and education by addressing the accommodation challenges in these institutions.
