The Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) demolished Woodcrest Estate, located in Mpape, a community in Bwari area council of Abuja, on Friday.
This action comes weeks after the FCDA demolished another estate being developed by Praco International Limited.
Eze Okpara, the estate’s manager, expressed surprise at the demolition, stating that the estate began development in 2019 and had completed three units with four units decked.
He mentioned that there were ongoing developments and household materials inside one of the units. Okpara also noted that there was a dispute over the land, which is pending in court.
Tony Ogbulafor, counsel to the developers, stated that they had approval for the construction and that a court had ordered the status quo to be maintained pending the determination of the suit. He expressed disappointment that despite the court order, the demolition took place.

The lawyer recounted an incident where they were blocked by policemen and NSCDC men from entering the estate, claiming they were a joint task force and could only enter after the demolition was completed. Ogbulafor emphasized that the developers had halted work on the estate due to the litigation and were only maintaining the existing structures.

He urged the FCDA and Majin Nigeria Limited to obey the court order, questioning the involvement of Majin in the demolition as claimed by the police.
