FCT Traders Elect New Executives, Plan Housing Estate

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the National Association of Nigeria Traders (NANT) has inaugurated its newly elected executives.

The executives, led by Chief Ifeanyi Okonkwo, were elected late last year and officially inaugurated yesterday.

In his inaugural speech, Okonkwo highlighted the association’s plans to promote peace and tranquility in markets and plazas, in addition to their intention to work with the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to secure land for an international market, plaza, and NANT Cooperative Housing Estate.

The outgoing chairman, Prince Edozie Ugwu, urged his successor to build upon the foundation laid and prayed for his success.

Chief Rachael Adewumi, the association’s woman leader, pledged to ensure a harmonious relationship between women traders, their male counterparts, and authorities.

National president of NANT, Barr Ken Ukoha, commended the outgoing executive for its performance and charged the new executives to continue the progress.

The event also witnessed the honoring of members and non-members with awards based on merit.

Dr. Val Nwodo, the planning committee chairman, emphasized the need for respect for traders’ rights, noting their significant contribution to the country’s economy.
