The Department of State Services (DSS) has urged organized labor to reconsider its decision to stage a nationwide protest on February 27 and 28, citing concerns about the potential for heightened tensions and violence.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Peter Afunanya, thet DSS spokesman, emphasized the government’s efforts to address the economic challenges facing Nigerians and called for dialogue between labor leaders and government officials.
Afunanya expressed the DSS’s awareness of plans by some elements to exploit the protests to cause crisis and widespread violence, warning against such actions.

He also called on parents, guardians, political parties, religious and traditional institutions, civil society, and non-governmental bodies to promote peace and eschew violence.
The DSS emphasized its opposition to violence as a means of resolving challenges, pledging to work with other security agencies to maintain peace in the country.
