The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has reduced the pump price of premium motor spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, to N935 per litre at select retail outlets in Abuja.

Motorists across the capital have confirmed sightings of the new pricing over the weekend. Abdullahi Hashim, a resident of Kubwa, said, “I observed the drop in the fuel price to N935 per litre on Saturday morning. It is a welcome development.”

Another motorist, Bukola Adewole, noted that she first noticed the adjustment at a filling station in Wuse Zone 4 on Friday. “The NNPC station along Kubwa Expressway just updated the price today,” she added.

This price revision follows the recent move by Dangote Refinery, which slashed its ex-depot petrol price from N865 to N835 per litre. The refinery, which has a daily refining capacity of 650,000 barrels, directed that its partner filling stations—such as MRS and AP—should retail petrol between N890 and N920, depending on location.

Despite the price drop, PUNCH Online reports that some MRS filling stations in Abuja have not dispensed petrol since April 16, 2025, the same day the price cut was announced by Dangote Refinery.

The new pricing is seen as part of a broader effort to ease the burden of high fuel costs on Nigerians, especially as energy prices have remained a contentious issue in recent months.
