The Federal Government has issued a clear warning to developers handling the Renewed Hope Housing Projects, threatening blacklisting and sanctions for substandard or delayed work.
Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, delivered the stern message during a status review meeting with contractors overseeing projects across various states.
“This administration is committed to doing things differently. Do not assume it’s business as usual—it is not,” Dangiwa said. “If you signed a contract with the government, you must deliver accordingly.”
Dangiwa emphasized that any contractor who delivers substandard housing or fails to meet deadlines risks being blacklisted from all Federal Government housing and infrastructure contracts. He added that defective structures would be demolished, and defaulting developers would face sanctions.
“We are not just building houses; we are building homes. If you collect government funds, you must deliver results,” he said. “We will not fold our arms and allow incompetence or bad faith to derail the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

While commending developers demonstrating professionalism and commitment, the Minister reiterated the Ministry’s resolve to honour all contracts—as long as quality standards and timelines are met.
He also directed Federal Controllers of Housing in all states to ramp up monitoring efforts on construction sites and ensure strict compliance with specifications.
According to a statement from Salisu Badamasi Haiba, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry, the Renewed Hope Housing Programme is a key initiative of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, aimed at expanding access to affordable housing and fostering inclusive development nationwide.
