The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has continued his hands-on approach to governance with recent visits to several ongoing road construction sites across Abuja.

On Wednesday, the Minister inspected critical infrastructure projects, including the three-kilometre road network in the Giri District and the 16-kilometre Idu-Dei Dei Road along the Inner Northern Expressway. He also visited the ongoing road network construction in Dakibiyu District and the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal building project.

Speaking during the inspections, Wike emphasized that these routine site visits play a vital role in keeping contractors accountable and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality projects.

“As part of the routine inspection, we will always go around to see whether the contractors are doing what they are supposed to do, and we are happy with what they are doing,” he said.

He stressed that it is not enough to assume progress from the comfort of an office. “We cannot sit in the offices and assume that the projects are going on well. Part of our job is to go and see for ourselves and evaluate the quality of work. If you don’t go out, you may be embarrassed on the day of inauguration — and by that time, it will be too late.”

The Minister also reaffirmed the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s (FCTA) commitment to supporting the contractors, noting that payments are being made promptly to ensure that work continues without delay.

Wike’s proactive approach underscores the FCTA’s renewed focus on infrastructure development and accountability across the territory.
