Renewed Hope Housing Program Creates 252,800 Jobs Under Tinubu’s Administration

The Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Peace, Security, Good Governance, Equity and Justice (CCSGPSGGEJ) has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has made giant strides in addressing Nigeria’s housing needs since its inception in 2023, particularly through the Renewed Hope Housing Program.

A statement on Monday by the national coordinator, Comrade James Okoronkwo, said through the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, the administration embarked on several initiatives to close the national housing gap in the country.

The statement noted that some of the initiatives included the construction of 10,112 housing units via the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme, with 14 active sites across the nation.

Also commended in the statement was the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, led by Hon. Minister Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa whose ministry, it acknowledge had created 252,800 jobs for Nigerians, with workers earning above the national minimum wage.

The statement read, “The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, led by Hon. Minister Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, has made significant strides in addressing Nigeria’s housing needs since his appointment by President Bola Tinubu in August 2023.

“The Ministry embarked on various initiatives to close the national housing gap, including the construction of 10,112 housing units via the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Program, with 14 active sites across the nation.

“12 Renewed Hope estates are currently under construction, with each comprising 250 housing units in 12 states, totaling approximately 3,000 units.

“Furthermore Okoronkwo note major urban projects are underway in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kano, and Lagos, among other states.

“These huge housing construction projects have created over 252,800 jobs for Nigerians, significantly contributing to the nation’s economic landscape, with workers earning above the national minimum wage.

“The Ministry has introduced various affordable homeownership options through the National Housing Fund (NHF) and the Federal Mortgage Bank’s Rent-to-Own scheme.

“The Renewed Hope Online Housing Delivery Portal (www.renewedhopehomes.fmhud.gov.ng) has empowered over 47,605 Nigerians to explore, apply, and track their housing applications online.

“The Ministry has diversified funding for housing projects through budgetary provisions, Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), and international collaborations, ensuring low and middle-income earners can access housing options.

“The Renewed Hope Social Housing Programme aims to provide 77,400 housing units across 774 local government areas, targeting low-income earners, the unemployed, and vulnerable groups.

“These achievements demonstrate the minister’s commitment to fulfilling President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, prioritizing housing as a vital element for improving the lives of Nigerians, creating jobs, and boosting economic growth”.
